ABOUT THE UTAH SYMPHONY
The Utah Symphony is a grand orchestra ensemble that began in the 1940s led by its first musical director Maurice Abravanel. In less than ten years of being founded, the symphony has grown to be a leading American orchestra ensemble. By the 60s, the Utah Symphony began touring and these incredible efforts played a role in its spectacular legacy. The continued advocacy in spreading the gift of music to listeners across the U.S. The orchestra also spearheaded a music education program that has transitioned to be among the country’s extensive arts program for school children. With these efforts, Abravanel received the National Medal of Arts from President Bush in 1991. Today, the Utah Symphony is led by music director Theirry Fischer.
